This code is for the guidance of SCA members in their professional conduct.
| A member will: |
- Be aware that SCA exists to serve and speak for the profession as well as its members.
- Always conduct his/her business in a manner that reflects favourably on SCA, the practice of spoken communication and theatre arts.
- At all times show loyalty to SCA fellow members and professional colleagues.
- Conduct his/her professional activities in accord with public interest and abide by the laws affecting the practice of business.
- Adhere to the highest standards of honesty, accuracy, integrity and decency.
- Not intentionally damage the reputation or practice of another member nor of any professional person unless just cause can be shown for doing so.
- Accept the right of the public to choose a teacher and freely transfer from one teacher to another.
- Realise that professional advertisements should state the specialist field, include the highest qualifications from each examining body and, if relevant, any honorific titles. Only registered teachers may use the distinguishing letters RTSCA.
- Direct all recommendations or complaints concerning contracts, fees, and exams (e.g. examining bodies, government departments) to the Council of the Association.
- Not solicit as clients the students of other teachers.
- Recognise that acceptance of a student is a business contract and terms should be understood by both parties before lessons
commence.
- Remember that your own opinions should not be expressed publicly as those of the profession or Association.
- Provide a safe and friendly environment for students and teachers.

Violation of Professional Code of Conduct |
- Any breach of the Code of Conduct should be reported in writing to the Council of SCA, who will take appropriate action

Students who are SCA members are expected to: |
- Work in co-operation with a Registered Teacher
- Be actively working towards completing professional qualifications to achieve Registration
- Apply for Registered Teacher status upon completing all requirements

Registered Teachers are expected to: |
- Ensure that their students working towards registration are familiar with the Professional Code of Conduct
